The Orient for me represented a distant world to be discovered, a universe out of time and unknown. I dreamed over the lyrics of Bansho, Zhuang-zi, and Suzuki, imagining how the lands described in the books could be. Then over the years I started to travel to Asia to find out step by step. It's a very long journey and I'm just beginning.
